Russian Sign Language Online Corpus has been created as a part of the project “Corpus-Based Research on Morphosyntax and Vocabulary of the Russian Sign Language”, supported by Russian Foundation for Basic Research (12-06-00231-a).
The project was carried out in 2012–2014. Its main objective was to conduct research on some previously unexplored aspects of Russian Sign Language.
In the course of the project, we have recorded and annotated over 230 videotexts from 43 RSL signers.
Based on the annotated RSL corpus we have studied structural and functional features of reduplication, means used to express aspect, communicative meanings, modality, conditionality and various types of nominal plurality. In addition, we have also described some of the regional variations of RSL.
